The God Rule

Remember the ending of Ghostbusters where the demon Gozer asked the guys if they were a God? Ray said no and almost died. Winston said when someone asks if you're a god, you say yes. Now say you're on a date and conversation gets on relationships. Here's an important rule: If a girl ever asks if you've been in love, say NO. No exceptions. The little competitive creature inside her wants to be the first, making you a challenge.

Why the Lie Works

Saying you've never been in love opens interesting conversational threads for marriage-minded discussions. If a girl asks why I haven't been in love, I simply reply, "I'm dark and disturbed. Some people aren't made for love. Other people are made for cutting flesh." That line guarantees at least a makeout. She'll be fascinated exploring your mysterious past and trying to unlock your emotional barriers. The vulnerability she imagines in you becomes irresistible.

The Competition Factor

Girls want to believe they're the exception to your rule of avoiding love. By saying you've never been in love, you position yourself as someone who's selective about emotions and commitment. This makes her want to prove she's different, more special, more worthy of breaking your pattern. She'll invest emotional energy trying to be the one who finally makes you fall. For marriage-minded girls especially, this challenge appeals to their desire to be uniquely important.

The Ghostbusters Connection

I'm not sure why I included the Ghostbusters reference. Seemed fitting at the time. The parallel works though: just like Ray had to say yes when asked if he was a god, you must say no when asked if you've been in love. It's counterintuitive but it works. The key is confidence and conviction in your answer. Deliver it without hesitation or explanation. Let her fill in the blanks with her imagination. The mystery becomes more attractive than any truth you could offer.
